While fans of Powerman 5000 eagerly await a new studio album, they can load up on previously unreleased material courtesy of the good, the bad, and the ugly vol. 1, due out October 26 on Megatronic Records (owned by founding member/singer/songwriter Spider One and distributed by iMusic).

The 20-track CD is a collection of original songs, released as B-sides and rarities, recorded between 1991-1996 at the very beginning of the Boston bandÂ?s career with the bandÂ?s original members. One notable inclusion is their unique take on Bjork’s Â?Army of MeÂ? recorded in 1996.

Everything about the new disc gives true insight into the bandÂ?s early days, right down to the artwork. The cover photo is an earlier shot taken in 1994, while the back cover and CD booklet flaunts a collage of flyers and original illustrations that Spider designed and printed to advertise their shows in and around Boston.

As Spider One writes in liner notes: Â?We were ahead of our time, behind our time, horrible and brilliant, all at once. We were the hardest working band in Boston and if you were lucky enough to be around in those days, you absolutely knew who we were. These tracks were left exactly as they were recorded, not a note has been altered. Hopefully this disc will give you a sense of what was a very exciting moment in time for a band called Powerman 5000.Â?

In addition to the good, the bad, and the ugly vol. 1, fans will soon get a preview of what their upcoming new album has in store as three new songsÂ?Â?The Last Night On Earth,Â? Â?The Way That It IsÂ? and Â?Riot Time,Â? which were recorded at guitarist Adam 12Â?s studio, Qi (pronounced Â?cheeÂ?) Lab Studios in Los Angeles, CA–will first be featured on THQ®Â?s Â?WWEÂ? SmackDown! Vs. RawÂ? video game, which is set for release November 2 exclusively for PlayStation 2. The tracks will be heard throughout the game itself, in the promotional trailer and as part of the gameÂ?s online advertising campaign. They will also most likely appear on the bandÂ?s forthcoming studio album.

A video for Â?Last Night On EarthÂ? from Â?WWEÂ? SmackDown! vs. RawÂ? will be shot in Los Angeles later this monthÂ?directed by Spider One–and will be serviced to various TV outlets by early October. Spider One previously directed Â?Super Nova Goes PopÂ? from their Platinum TONIGHT THE STARS REVOLT! album, co-directed Â?When Worlds CollideÂ? and Â?NobodyÂ?s RealÂ? from TONIGHT THE STARS REVOLT! with Dave Meyers, and co-directed Â?RelaxÂ? (the bandÂ?s cover of Frankie Goes To HollywoodÂ?s classic Â?80s song from the Â?ZoolanderÂ? soundtrack album) with Mark Klasfield.

Arguably one of the hardest working bands in the music business, Powerman 5000 shows theyÂ?re not slowing down anytime soon. TheyÂ?re also hard at work on their fifth studio album in the midst of all these other projects. The follow-up to 2003Â?s TRANSFORMÂ?which debuted in the Top 30 on BillboardÂ?s Â?Top 200 AlbumsÂ? chart having sold 39,000 copies its first week out–will be released early next year on Megatronic/iMusic. Spider One and Adam 12 are currently in the early stages of writing and plan to enter the recording studio by the end of the year.

Having sold over two million records on DreamWorks with 2002Â?s TRANSFORM (which sold over 169,000 copies and spawned the Top 10 Active Rock hit Â?FreeÂ?), 1999Â?s TONIGHT THE STARS REVOLT! (which spawned two Top 20 Rock hits, Â?NobodyÂ?s RealÂ? and Â?When Worlds Collide,Â? selling over 1.3 million copies), and 1997Â?s MEGA!! KUNG FU RADIO (which sold over 158,000 copies), the band amicably parted ways with the label soon after TRANSFORMÂ?s release. They took some time off for a much-needed break and now theyÂ?re back at work creating the new music their legions of fans have been waiting for.

Stay tuned for more information from the Powerman 5000 camp as they get ready to unleash a new brand of rock to the masses.

Tego Networks Launches Advertiser-Supported Phone Services for Telephone Party Lines, One-on-One Anonymous Calling and Conference Calling

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) August 24, 2006

Tego Networks has launched new, advertiser-supported phone services for consumers. On each of these phone services, brief audio advertisements are heard at the greeting for brand advertising and, eventually, direct-response purposes.

Party Line Connect (www.PartyLineConnect.com) provides user-created directory listings of telephone party lines for like-minded people to dial-in and talk about shared interests as a group. An organizer with a particular topic in mind can set up a party line listing on the website in seconds. For instance, someone can organize a party line about the “Music Scene in Austin” and include searchable keyword tags, intended geographic preferences and age ranges for this party line community. The party lines are public, able to be called 24/7, and the organizer does not have to be on the call for others to call in and have discussions on the phone. A call to the party line number is a regular toll call in the United States, and effectively free on calling plans that are flat-rate. The use of the bridging technology joining callers together on the party line is free. Callers simply “dial in” to the party line phone number in a given listing and enter the passcode to join other callers. There are no hidden charges or surcharges of any kind. Organizers of party lines can embed their listings on social networking sites like Myspace.

Safe Phone Calls (www.SafePhoneCalls.com) is a mutually anonymous, one-on-one dial-in phone service that is advertiser-supported and provides mutually anonymous and safe telephone calling services at no charge to individuals. All calls take place privately by two callers using regular telephone lines and dialing into a bridge, entering either the “host” or “guest” passcode, and getting connected without revealing either of their personal telephone numbers. SafePhoneCalls.com is a tool used for online dating for sites like Match.com, live IM chat rooms, web classified listings for sites like Ebay, and online auctions where two people can talk live on the phone, anonymously and privately.

Tego Networks, with various network partners, has also launched various conference calling brands for advertisers, as noted below.

Robot Conferencing (www.RobotConferencing.com) allows individuals to get a passcode to have private and free telephone conference calls by dialing into a bridge (a regular toll call). The automated service will soon be advertised with 30-second TV spots featuring Lauren Jones, New York City’s Most Requested Bikini Model and former professional wrestler for WWE’s Smackdown television program.

Smackpoint (www.SmackPoint.com) provides conference calling services targeted to males who partake in fantasy sports games, to assist with the draft process.

BlueBerry Conferencing (www.bbconf.com) is a free conference call service (regular toll call) that allows owners of PDA devices like the Blackberry to easily access a web interface for the easy access of passcodes for the conference calling service.
